Outnumbered by the brigands Sovak had been beaten, battered, and two long gashes along his back where they had gotten the drop on him. The green skinned hunter seemed at a loss, kneeling before the bandits struggling to breathe as his black blood flowed from his woods. He felt like this was it. This was how he was going to meet his end at the hands of these thieves, and as their leader walked toward him drawing his blade for the final blow the trollkin felt something suddenly snap inside of him.
As that blade fell a powerful hand grabbed the leader's wrist halting it immediately. The leader crying out in pain as muscles surged and bones underneathe the grendelkin's hand snapped like twigs. Lifting the man's broken arm then his whole Sovak felt a rage unlike any other, and with a mighty more he ripped the man's arm off like he was twisting bread dough.
The other bandits looking on shocked and afraid as the mere became a monster in front of their eye, and before they could even think of helping their leader the monster turned on them. Their screams carrying through the night were heard by the villagers in nearby town, and when the people of that village came to investigate the next morning they found four shallow graves off the side of the road.
Grendelkin are a race descended from the bloodlines of some of the strong breed of humans of Bruic and the savage trolls that roam the frozen mountains. Caught between the hard life of being treated like a monster by humanity or becoming a savage beast like their troll parents life is often a walk upon a fine line for them.
